ID vs Evolution - Get off your Butts!
One of the basic messages in "Outside In" is the issue is getting the human "couch potato species" off our collective butts and getting outside to gather context for answering the big questions of our time. Mostly, we naval gaze and look inwards hoping for answers but instead spin round and round in idle debate.
The decision in the Dover, PA case about teaching "Intelligent Design" yesterday has anti-IDers crowing and ID defenders explaining why it's no big deal and ID will triumph.
Yet this little piece of news, unaccompanied by a media news storm, is far more relevant and tangible evidence to the question of "where did we come from?". The only chance the debate about ID and evolution will be resolved is by exploring our and other solar systems.
I wonder if both sides really want the debate resolved. Both, especially the ID camp, put far more time and effort in attacking the others arguments instead of getting off their butts and actually exploring what evidence the universe offers us.
